This year's online discussion series focuses on 21st Century Learning and new directions in distance education. We've invited guest moderators to facilitate online discussions and share their experience and perspectives. These discussions are designed to:
Broaden perspectives and raise awareness of current issues and applications in distance education through online discussions.
Provide opportunities to dialogue with guest moderators about the implementation of these ideas and lessons learned.
Encourage networking, sharing ideas and learning from others in the Certificate Program, including alumni.
Guest moderators will lead week-long discussions to explore new tools, strategies, and issues in distance teaching and learning. Prior to each discussion week we'll post a background article, links to Web sites to visit, or a series of questions to help you prepare for the discussion. We'll notify you via the Certificate Program listserv one to two weeks prior to each online discussion that materials are available to review. During the discussion you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions to the guest experts as well as share ideas and connect with others in the Certificate Program by posting messages to an online conference.
All current Certificate Program participants and program alums may take part in these discussions. You may participate in one or all four of the week-long discussions. There is no need to sign up for the series or any one week-long discussion in advance unless you plan on earning CEUs for your participation.
Watch for announcements via the Certificate Program listserv or check this Web site for updates. If you have any questions about the format or how you'll benefit from this series, e-mail Nancy Rebholz at nrebholz@education.wisc.edu or Louise Fowler at lafowler@facstaff.wisc.edu.
